Become an Erie DAWN Landlord

The unique partnership that Erie DAWN has with its landlords makes it possible to carry out our mission of providing safe, affordable housing to homeless women and their children. The housing that you permit Erie DAWN to use provides more than just shelter to our families; it is a safe place for our women to regain their dignity, confidence and sense of hope.

Our families pay a reduced rent based on their income. Erie DAWN asks you as a landlord to adjust your rents to be more in line with what the women can afford. When necessary, Erie DAWN will find a donor to offset the rent. Because of the reduced rent that you provide, the women are able to work on financial goals such as debt repair and a savings program.

Erie DAWN provides

  • Screening of prospective participants
  • Move-in/move-out checks
  • Weekly/monthly safety inspections
  • Constant interaction and communication with participant
  • Regular communication with landlord

Successful completion of this program enables participants to acquire permanent housing and maintain economic independence.
